Portraits focuses on immigrants in the United States but also opens up to exceptional people of any origin. The intention of this program is to enlighten a broad national and international audience about the many personalities that make up the rich mosaic of American life. Welcomed are people from different cultures, faiths, and ways of life to share their ideas, accomplishments, favorite activities, and private routines on camera in an attempt to paint a more human picture of our world.

From artists and mechanics to civil servants and homemakers, Portraits takes an in-depth look at the lives of people who are making a difference. They are the individuals and families who are secure in their own values and traditions while at the same time at peace and at home with their diverse neighbors.
